VIA® Instant Coffee Horchata
(Makes 3 Drinks)
A popular tradition in Mexico and Spain, this beverage often features rice, milk, and cinnamon. Learn how to make a quick, delicious version with Starbucks VIA® Instant Coffee.
1 cup long-grain white rice
2 cups water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ cup sugar
2 packets of Starbucks VIA® Instant Italian Roast
2 ½ cups milk
Soak rice in the water overnight (or at least an hour)
Add the rice and its soaking water to a blender, along with the vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and Starbucks VIA® Instant Coffee. Blend for two minutes.
Strain the blended mixture into a storage container and stir in the milk.
Cover the container and chill the mixture completely (overnight is fine).
When you’re ready to serve the horchata, pour it into a serving pitcher, leaving any sediment behind.
Serve and enjoy.
TIPS: For extra presentation points, garnish your glasses with orange rind.
Variation: Try substituting the milk with chocolate milk.
